Took some quick portraits of my friend Kristle and my buddy Charles.
I changed up the lighting setup from the other portraits. These tend to pop a bit more. I feel like the previous portraits have a much more natural feeling to them. For these photos instead of using the strobes and shooting at f22, I shot at about half the aperture and used continuous lighting with daylight balanced fluorescents. I'm not sure what the exact effect is really, but it definitely feels much more dramatic. The skin tends to shine a bit more and light up.
Anyway, I was just experimenting. I want to continue to try different things. Below are the photos.
Here is Kristle. She was completely shy, but I think I got a fun shot of her.
Ok, so here is my self portrait. I tend to not like any photos of myself (like most people, I'm sure) but I thought this was interesting. My skin is full of craziness, but I'm all about trying to look at people in a very raw manner. In that sense, I can't look much raw-er than this.Charles looks like a rockstar. What's nice about the continuous lighting and the lower aperture is that I can control the focus a bit more. It's nice to hone in on Charle's eyes here and slowly drift the focus backwards.
