New Addition to my BLOG family!

Hello all! So I have a wonderful addition to my BLOG. My very good friend Michelle has volunteered to bless this BLOG with her findings abroad. Currently, she is residing in Paris where she will be adding her own flair to fashion, food, and other random notes about the going-ons of this very exciting city. I'm sure her notes will peak the interest of many so I gladly welcome her enthusiasm and I hope you all enjoy her posts.

Thanks Michelle.

Rob's Birthday Weekend

This weekend I finally had a chance to hop out of LA for a hot minute and spend some quality time with old friends and some family (Boston trip still on, but I think postponed to mid October).

Rob just turned 26 this weekend and I was very happy to spend it with him and Ryan as well as others. Not much to say about it other than it was good times and I truly value my friendship with them. It really is an irreplaceable trust and bond.

Oh, and my mom finally got the keys to her new place in Downtown San Diego. She is extremely happy and excited and its good to see that life back in her.

You can see the entire album here

Original iPhone tougher than CONCRETE!

So here is the long and short. Not too long ago, my buddy Mikey was heading down Santa Monica Blvd on his Cervelo road bike (READ: expensive bike) when he was struck unknowingly by a Mercedes Benz driving motorist causing him to flip off over his bike and smash into the hot concrete below. Luckliy, Mikey suffered no serious injury (other than his face--oh wait, that was God's cruel joke) and had no broken bones. What saved him you ask? Was it a helmet, protective gear, or his quick cat like reflexes? No. It was his Apple issued original iPhone. We both believe it dampened his fall and possibly saved his right leg from being broken.

The iPhone itself is slightly tweaked, but works just as well as it did 1 year ago. Take that plastic backed iPhone 3G! Aluminum backs all the way!

Weekend...

Had some Downtown adventures. Could not have had a cooler weekend. Thank you for being so cool.

Unstoppable

So here is the top of the week update.

It has just been non-stop for pretty much two months now. Lots of exciting stuff happening in LA, it's just slightly difficult keeping up with it all. For those who don't know I am the senior editor for this online webisode series called Celebrity Techover that plays online. The good people at The Outfit who produce the job decided to get me involved in the production since they know I am a director. So tomorrow is my first day on set with them for this show. Going to be meeting Tori Spelling and her husband? (I think) Should be good times and eventual they are going to have me helm the series altogether; from concept to direction and finally to post. Good times.

At the same time I have been busting some ass with my music video production company, Maneater. Jed and Christina are so damn badass and are seriously hustling out there on the mean streets of LA, it truly is a sight to see. I am currently writing a music video treatment for a pretty big artist (its NDA, i.e. a secret! sorry....) and will also be writing one up for Kanye's Love Lockdown track with hopes they can get it in front of him. Maneater will also be pitching me for a moderate budget spot (75k) with a pretty gangsta agency here in LA that-cross your fingers-will fruition.

That's pretty much it for work. Trying to keep the machine well tuned and oiled so I can make it out there. Gotta hit them yoga classes and keep in contact with my friends. Oh, and Saturday should be fun....

Sweden!!!!!

What a great night!! So top of the night I found myself over in Santa Monica where Post FX house Radium was having an awesome party to commemorate the opening of their Santa Monica office.

Free drinks, great people, and good vibes made that experience a great one. I got to hang out with my new Music Video production company, Maneater and its two owners Jed and his wife Christina. I also had the great pleasure of meeting two of the other directors on the roster; Tudor and Colombo.

From there I went to go meet my buddies Anthony and Jackie over at Beauty Bar in Hollywood.

While outside of Beauty Bar trying to cool off I spotted a group of young girls, one of which who was wearing this beautiful scarf. I asked her where she got it (thinking it was somewhere on Melrose or something). To my surprise she replied, in a gorgeous Swedish accent, that she had picked it up in Greece--fantastic! Turns out her and her friends are traveling for the next month or so around the US--taking in the sights and checking out the country. So awesome to meet travelers...such good times.

They were all super sweet and I got to recommend a bunch of stuff here in Los Angeles which I hope they get to check out.

I promised them I would post the pictures, so I hope they get to see it! It was a pleasure meeting you girls!!!

Fancy Dinner

So I'm a man that enjoys the finer things in life. Yachts, Go-fast boats, Ferraris, tailored suits, Italian leather... you know, the whole deal.

When Friday rolls around and I just want to unwind from the pressures of the week, sometimes I like to treat myself to an expensive, all out dinner.

There really wasn't any other choice. I knew where I wanted to eat: El Pollo Loco.

It's authentic Spanish Cuisine with an Americana flair. How could I go wrong? It truly is the Carte Blanche of food eateries here in Hollywood.

Eh, I hate myself for going there. I blame Anne (she came with).

Kanye's New Single :: Love Lockdown

I am a big fan of Kanye and his new single off his forthcoming album seriously does not disappoint. It is very much a hard driving love song. Very, very cool.

He recently performed the song during his performance at the Nike+ 10K run here in Los Angeles and also on the VMAs.

I won't provide you the MP3, but Im sure your Google search works, so use it!

Fly Gear Straight outta LONDON SON!

London based brand/store/designer(?) Maharishi is just plain sick. If you haven't heard now you know. Their new fall line up pulls a lot of influence from very traditional patterns and designs found in American and Native American culture mixed with a clear hunting vibe.

Some of the pieces are from the new line as well as some of the existing line they have available online. If you are in London you can simply stop in and check them out. For the rest of us, they have an online store available. Check it out

Los Angeles TarFest :: Films, Art, & Music!!

From the website:

TarFest is a festival of emerging film, music and art held annually since 2003 at the La Brea Tar Pits and the surrounding Museum Row in the historic Miracle Mile district of Los Angeles.

This popular festival presents an opportunity for artists in Los Angeles to gain creative exposure in the geographical and cultural center of the city for the benefit of public enrichment. A four-day indoor/outdoor multi-venue festival, TarFest features concerts, film screenings, arts workshops, installations, sculptures, paintings, drawings, photography, mixed media, and informational lectures.

The diverse programming appeals to all types of people at all levels, encouraging Los Angelenos to explore excellent, unique forms of expression and aesthetics in the heart of the city.

Anyone and everyone interested in new media art, films, local music, and just plain fun should attend this years TarFest being held in Los Angeles from Friday October 3 to Sunday October 5th!

It should be a great festival that is partially being sponsored by the great minds over at Ab5trax. They are great freinds of mine, and besides that I also have a small contribution playing at the festival itself. You can learn more about TarFest  here

Custom HED Jet Disc for your other car

My buddy Rob tipped me on these sick looking set of HED wheels. Looks like one of the discs has a full on custom dragon paint job on it. Sick! Thanks Rob for sharing.

If anyone is rocking these on the streets, you can pretty much count on your bike getting stolen. But hey, maybe its worth the week of fame. They'll run you about 1k.

Dashikis and the circle of life

I'm a huge fan of tribal wear, style, and art. So recently, on a trip to New York I found myself shopping at a small boutique shop in the Gramercy area that specialized in mostly African crafts and clothing. I spotted a Dashiki in the back of the store and pretty much told myself I couldn't leave the store without it.

I love the thing. I think every time I wear it folks are pretty receptive. Very, very cool.

Funny thing is, is that I'm telling my sister this story and I send her a picture of me rocking the Dashiki. I open up my email today, and its a picture of my dad circa 30 years ago rocking a very similar Dashiki! Crazy how that goes down...I'm slowly turning into my father--tight! lol

Anyway, he looks badass in his--I need a little work....

Sick Fit #2

So as you may or may not know, it is Fashion Week in NYC. Being as such, Fashion Blog Photographer The Sartorialist is on full blast taking great photos of folks out and about in NYC (even more so than usual).

Anyways, I love this fit. So casual and clean. Homeboy is rocking that ascot! (I totally should get one Michelle! I told you! lol). He kinda looks like a badass professor.

Enjoy.

Yoga and the magic inside us all (or maybe thats my back giving out)

So I'm doing yoga. Yes. Yoga. I've been to two classes here at my local 24Hr fitness. I've been pretty curious to try it for awhile now, but it wasn't until recently I had the courage to walk into one of the classes and look like a total fool and do it.

What's the verdict? It's harder than I thought. I definitely feel good afterwards, and Im sure I could use the stretch and little sweat it builds up. Exciting times yoga is. Well , hopefully I can keep it up and maybe in a couple of months I'll be able to do some gangster split kicking Van Damme style.

Feels nice to cross something off my list of "things to try in my life." Maybe another trip is next? We'll see. Oh, and for those who do not know me, this is NOT a picture of me--although he does look like a happy man. Peace

Apartment Hunting and how LA is sucking my soul...

So unless you are a badass millionaire (like a certain designer friend of mine: READ, MIKEY P!) looking for apartments in Los Angeles that are within your budget can be quite depressing. In fact, I can feel my soul slowly deteriorating.

On the bright side, I do have a spacious car that maybe...if I work it just right, I can live in. A kitchenette here, a toilet there....it'll be just like home, eh....

Projection Graffiti Art

Berlin based Artist, Jaybo (aka MONK) most recent project is an addition to his "Paint my House" series. Using a mix of technology and old school graffiti style he has tagged the Berliner Dom Cathedral in Berlin. Shit is hot. Check it out. Also attached, is another in the series down in Berlin last year. See more of his work at CircleCulture Gallery"

Where is this girl and her AWESOME GLASSES?!

I love these! These Italian made sunglasses by
RetroSuperFuture are pretty sweet. They have been making some very cool glasses of recent and definitely need a thorough looking at if you haven't heard of them before.

Pictured are the Super Ciccio Red. They also come in a black colorway. As of right now they simply come in the clear lenses, but hopefully soon they'll pop out with some shades on these bad boys. Cop them at

Some Velcro Nikes

Saw these at
Caliroots. Pretty sick, and the colorway is clean too. I think you can pick them up for a little over $80 US. Check them out over at
