Sunday was probably the most relaxing afternoon I've had in awhile. I have been so extremely busy with work that I literally haven't had a day in awhile with nothing going on. So I was happy to join Eneida and Garianne for brunch and second hand shopping at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. Found some cool stuff (most notably a super rare, extremely BADASS Michael Jackson White Glove Jewel Encrusted Pin...hotness) and saw some great finds. I didn't buy everything of course but I did see some cool stuff. G and Eneida also came up on some cool stuff. If you haven't ever been, it is definitely worth checking out.
The entrance. It looks like a carnival.
Michael Jackson's Glove Pin Detail of the pin. G and Eneida Some of the stands. It gets pretty crowded there. Some very cool antiques. Eneida was looking for a cool chair. I took some snaps of some of the ones I liked. Sick chair. I would actually buy this one. I think this would look good in my loft. Some nice mid century drawers. Chair chillin. I really wanted this mirror but it was a $100. Trippin! Some vintage art. The frame is what's sick though. Girl stuff. I thought this was vintage but I think it was made recently.... Sick. Bunch of guys from Tokyo were selling these hats. I'm down. Eneida cardigan shopping. I think it maybe a hair too small. G is festive. Lots and lots of bags. Cool bag. Eneida finds some very cool vintage dresses. I would maybe rock this.
As you may know, I am a HUGE fan of bowties. They are a very classy and elegant way to accessorize any fit and they add a lot of character. Learning to tie a real bowtie is a skill I think everyman should learn and know how to do, just as most guys know how to tie a regular necktie. So when I stumbled upon these bowties from New York based David Hart & Co. I was floored. The patterns are great and the style is very bold. They are a bit pricey, but I think I may have to pick one up at some point.
So I decided this morning to wake up a little early and take a bike ride around the Artist District area here in DOWNTOWN. Oh man, lots and lots of discoveries!
First and foremost, for the guys. I found AN APPT ONLY MENS' CLOTHING BOUTIQUE CALLED SECRET SERVICE. They specialize in they're own jeans which they make and sell locally at Barney's LA. But they also carry other cool brands like NICE collective and what not. Anyway, I am going to try to set up an appt for this Saturday if anyone is interested (Mike, Nathan, Jason? You guys reading this?!).
Also, just nearby I scoped a bar called ROYAL CLAYTONS, an English pub, located at the bottom floor of the TOY FACTORY lofts. Going to try to check that out on Friday.
And finally, over at the Barker Block there is a new Italiano restaurant that will open this Winter. Inside will be gourmet Italian food as well as a gelato "lab." Experimental fancy ice cream maybe? I'm in!
